1971 – 1979
1971
CLA - Coburger Lehrmittelanstalt is founded and managed by Hans Sommer. Nursing Doll CLA 1 was the first of a series of life-sized training dolls manufactured by CLA®, which were used for training purposes at nursing and geriatric nursing schools as well as for the training of paramedics
1975
Taking over the business concern of the Bundeszentrale für gesundheitliche Aufklärung (Federal Centre for Health Education) in Cologne.
1976
Registration of the CLA® trademark with the German Patent Office under number 949608.
1977
CLA launches the Intubation Phantom of an Adult, CLA 8, which was developed in co-operation with the Bundeszentrale für gesundheitliche Aufklärung (Federal Centre for Health Education) in Cologne. This allowed for intubation to be trained under realistic conditions.
Start of the collaboration with Professor Dr. med. John A. Nakhosteen within the framework of developing bronchoscopy phantoms.
1980 – 1989

Start of the collaboration with Professor Dr. med. J. Sökeland within the framework of developing urological training phantoms.
1981
On the occasion of the 10-year anniversary of the Coburger Lehrmittelanstalt, it publishes its own media catalogue, which supersedes the previous catalogues of teaching materials by the Bundeszentrale für gesundheitliche Aufklärung (Federal Centre for Health Education).
1984
Start of the collaboration with Professor Dr. med. H. R. Henche within the framework of developing arthroscopic training phantoms.
1986
The second media catalogue is published - media selected specifically for modern health education are covered on 180 pages. Development of the Baby Nursing Doll CLA 20 in collaboration with Ms Petra Fischer of the Leipzig Medical School.
1990 – 1999
1991
Publication of the third CLA media catalogue.
1993
Start of the collaboration with Ms Petra Fischer, Head School Nurse of the Leipzig Medical School, in the areas of baby care and paediatric as well as adult nursing care.
1997
Start of the collaboration with Professor Dr. med. Chr. Fusch within the framework of developing the intubation phantom of a new-born baby.
1998
Development of the Child Nursing Doll CLA 23
2000 - today
2002
Start of the collaboration with Dr med Wolfgang Birkner within the framework of developing the CLA 15/3, the Shoulder Arthroscopy Phantom.
2011
Publication of the fourth CLA catalogue.
40-year company anniversary
2014
Start of the collaboration with Professor Dr med Th Nicolai and Dr B Hinrichs within the framework of the further development of phantoms for child intubation and bronchoscopy including emergency care.
2021
On 8.09.2021 CLA celebrates its 50th anniversary.
